Itinerary
Day 1
Starting in our iconic capital city, Edinburgh, we head north across the Highland Line into the forests and hills of Highland Perthshire. With our first stop in the pretty village of Dunkeld, we enjoy a gentle stroll around the historic centre, perhaps enjoying a snack of locally smoked salmon from the neighbouring River Tay and picking up some treats from an award-winning local bakery, before setting off on a hike into the heart of this special Highland scenery.
As gentle or as arduous as you like, your tour is entirely tailor made to you, and therefore so is the activity level! This is the perfect way to learn more about Scotland’s wonderful nature and wildlife, and to really unwind from the hubbub of daily life, immersing yourself in the peace of your surroundings.
Ending the day at one of Perthshire’s best loved distilleries, learn about the whisky making process before, of course, enjoying a well-earned dram.
Overnight
Aberfeldy / Dunkeld / PitlochryDay 2
There is so much to see and do in Highland Perthshire, and we will discuss your options with you at the time of booking.
For the more active, why not spend this morning paddling in a canoe across a loch, or hiking through the woods or up to a beautiful viewpoint?
Alternatively, enjoy specialist food and drink tastings from renowned independent local producers: chocolate, coffee or both!
Or for that extra special treat, perhaps learn to make delicious bread or to use home-grown ingredients in a country cookery class.
As we head back to Edinburgh today, we tie our strands of Scottish history, nature and culture together with a visit to Scone Palace, the ancient crowning place of kings.
Depending on the morning activities, there may even be time to squeeze in a quick visit to the beautiful Kingdom of Fife. Discover the historic university and golfing town of St Andrews, or finish the day with a traditional “fish & chips” supper by the harbour of one of Fife’s prettiest fishing villages.
What an ending to your whistlestop tour!
Optional extensions: We have a feeling that this short break will be only the beginning of your love affair with Scotland and the Highlands. Why not extend this tour with a few more nights in the Highlands, discovering battlefields, castles, lochs and glens – and even more opportunities to meet our fabulous food and drink producers and to enjoy the endless fun possibilities to explore the outdoors.
